Table of Contents
1. Breeders Selling French Bulldog Puppies
The average cost of a French Bulldog puppy from a reputable breeder is $1500-$3000.
In some cases, this cost can soar as high as $12,000, depending on if its parents have a history of championship Dog Show placements.
As a result, finding a French Bulldog puppy under $1000 from a breeder is challenging and is typically only possible through negotiation.
In light of this, we’ve decided to exclude breeders from this list.
2. Dog Rescue Facilities Sheltering French Bulldog Puppies
We need to expand our search beyond breeders for breeds that fall well outside our target range for the average price.
One such source, dog rescue facilities, is an excellent option for finding expensive breeds to join your family for a low cost.
This is possible because the rescue facilities are often 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organizations.
Therefore, they charge nothing but a small fee, which they use to provide food, shelter, and medical care to animals in need.
In some cases, these fees are as low as $150, which means that you can obtain a French Bulldog Puppy for well under 15% of the price charged by breeders.
That is, assuming you are up for the challenge and have the homing requirements of raising a puppy who may have additional special needs.
You see, to get a puppy from one of these shelters, you have to pass a rigorous test of sorts – a large set of questions are asked to every would-be family.
For a small example, they may ask you things like:
- Do you Rent? (And does the landlord allow dogs/big/small?)
- How many people live in the house?
- Are there any existing animals within the home?
- Are there any young children living in the home?
And many others. These questions determine the likelihood that the animal fits into the family dynamics.
Failure to pass the test, and they won’t release the dog to you. But don’t be disheartened by this – this hoop is there to ensure the puppy finds a good home.
French Bulldog Rescue Network
The first rescue facility for French Bulldogs on this list is the French Bulldog Rescue Network, or FBRN for short.
This establishment began its mission in 2001 in Massachusetts and is based on “The three R’s,” Rescue, Rehabilitation, and Rehome.
It is 100% operated by volunteers, and every French Bulldog puppy they rescue is from one of the following:
- Commercial Breeding Kennels
- Import Brokers
- Shelters
- Privately run rescue groups
- and Good Samaritans.
They operate in all 50 states of the United States, so no matter where you live, they try to help every French Bulldog pup they can.
Unfortunately, their fees are a bit higher when it comes to adoption facilities, running as high as $900 for a French Bulldog between the ages of 2-8 and as low as $400 for Frenchies with special needs.
Still, this falls within the limit of this post, so we’ve included them here.
If these fees are acceptable to you, then you can contact the FBRN to get your little frog puppy using the following:

French Bulldog Village Rescue
This next dog rescue facility that specializes in French Bulldogs is the French Bulldog Village Rescue.
Started in 2004, The FBVR has a few essential ground rules in place for would-be adopters.
First, if you intend to adopt from this organization, then you would need to be over the age of 21 and be open for them to do home inspections.
The complete process is this:
- Foster Homes deem French Bulldog ready for adoption
- Listing the dog on the website as available for adoption
- Applicants send in the required documentation (an online forum)
- Home inspections (Renters must provide a valid lease and permission from the landlord)
- The match is approved by the foster home
- The match is approved by the board of directors
- You go to pick up your new French Bulldog family member
- Sending update photos/messages to them is a plus.
These precautions are in place to ensure that the Frenchies under their care are given a loving home and don’t need to keep going to foster homes.

3. Stores Selling French Bulldog Puppies Under $1000
Are you not able to find a French Bulldog Puppy close enough to you from those rescue facilities? Then, the next best place to look for a Frenchie is online puppy stores.
However, it is much harder to find a listing from these classified ad-type websites under that $1000 goal, as the French Bulldog breed is very popular, so you’ll need to look carefully.
A trick for some websites that don’t have any pagination is to use the keyboard shortcut, ctrl+F, then type in “$1000” or the numbers below it.
This will highlight any listings that are under $1000 on these sites if they don’t have a built-in price filter.
From there, it’s just a matter of picking one and contacting them.
An important Note for Online Stores:
We want to make you aware of something first before you contact them.
Online puppy stores are notorious for sourcing puppies from puppy mills, an inhumane commercial level-breeding operation.
Since French Bulldogs are an exceptionally popular breed, they are often bred by these operations to make a lot of money.
Because we have a strong stance against puppy mills, we want to share some resources that you can use to identify puppy mill listings:
With that out of the way, here are two stores where you can buy French Bulldogs from:
AKC Marketplace
This first store is the AKC or American Kennel Club Marketplace. This store is focused on providing a standard of breed based on the breed’s classification.
They are the ones who determine what breeds exist based on the physical traits exhibited by the dog.
As such, listings from this website tend to be on the high end of the price spectrum, but that isn’t to say all puppies provided by the AKC Marketplace are over $1000.
However, it is challenging to shop by price using this marketplace – that is hidden behind the listing itself, so you’ll need to manually check every puppy to find one to meet that price criterion.
The benefit of using the AKC Marketplace is that it is also one of the strictest stores for listing puppies, meaning that a puppy sourced from here is far less likely to be sourced from a puppy mill.
Still, it is always a good idea to approach any such seller using the resources we’ve provided above.
If you want to see what the AKC Marketplace has, then you can reach them using the following:

Greenfield Puppies
The final store on this list is Greenfield Puppies, one of our favorite recommended stores.
They have earned this by how they handle listings on their site – by manually vetting each puppy using the photographer that snaps photos of the French Bulldog puppies for sale under $1000.
If the photographer they send suspects that the puppy is from a puppy mill, they denylist that seller from being able to list the puppies for sale in the future.
This move helps stem the tide of puppy mill listings on this site, which is further reinforced by the ability to report a seller if you suspect the photographer missed something.
